Our Philosophy

We are Canadian South-Asian women who grew up within western and eastern cultural philosophies. We both experienced challenges trying to figure out our identity as to where we belong, and how to respect cultural values while maintaining our own uniqueness. We found there was a lack of support, resources, and education, as well as stigma regarding mental health which is why we feel a commitment to helping others and raising awareness.

Taking the first step to getting help can be scary; however, by communicating openly and honestly, we can work together to ensure you get the best possible experience out of your therapeutic journey.

We believe that good therapy is based on counsellors who are compassionate and caring, well trained in effective techniques, and passionate about supporting others.

Jagdeep Vancouver Counsellor Therapy

Jagdeep Chahal,RSW

I am a registered social worker currently helping individuals and families within acute care settings. I completed my Masterโ€™s in Social Work along with a diploma in International Social Work. My undergraduate studies consist of Psychology & Counselling.

My passion for counselling stems from witnessing growth, acceptance, and strength within not only my clients but for myself as well. My experience of working with different demographics has taught me how to be present with my clients during expressions of pain, fear, guilt, or anger. My philosophy of practice is molded by various theories, but the fundamental core of who I am as a therapist is developed by my own values of kindness and honesty.

Over time, I have learned counselling is not a solution to all our problems, but it can be a guiding light through dark times. I am here to stand with, and beside you to hold a space where you can journey towards your own path.

I am a registered social worker specializied in womenโ€™s mental health and provide support, resources, and strategies for mental wellness. I completed my Masterโ€™s in Social Work and have worked in a variety of mental health settings - inpatient acute, perinatal mental health, and community support services. I have experience in counselling individuals and couples around anxiety, life transitions, loss, parenting issues, and relationships

Through a humanistic strength-based approach, I support individuals with overcoming past experiences, connecting with their emotions, discovering new meanings, and rebuilding their close relationships. I believe in offering my honest self, in a supportive and caring way.

I have come to understand that struggle is a universal part of the human experience. It is when we are able to utilize our pain to foster resilience and growth that we become the most authentic version of ourselves. It takes courage to look inward and it is my privilege to join with you in your journey to healing.
